The supplier says 73089098. TSS wants ten digits.

Declarewise reads the invoices and packing lists for goods you bring from Great Britain into Northern Ireland, and builds the supplementary declaration from them. Anything the paperwork can't settle comes back to you as a question, with the line it came from beside it.

Keying it in is quick. Getting it ready isn't.

The slow part of a supplementary declaration is everything before TSS: reading the paperwork and chasing what it leaves out.

  • Codes that won't go in

Suppliers print commodity codes with 8, 9 or 10 digits. TSS takes ten, so somebody has to work out which ten, line by line.

  • No country of origin

Plenty of invoices from GB never say where the goods were made. Origin can change the duty, and it can't just be put down as GB.

  • Paperwork in every shape

A PDF from one supplier, a photo of a delivery docket from the next, and a packing list with the weights written on in biro.

  • The 10th comes round fast

Each supplementary declaration is due by the 10th of the month after the goods arrived. A busy month all lands at once.

What happens to an invoice

  1. Step 1

    Send the paperwork in

Upload the PDFs or photos for a delivery and they are read together as one consignment. If your paperwork arrives in Gmail, a small script in your own Google account can send it in for you.

  2. Step 2

    Answer what it couldn't settle

Each question names the line it is about, with the scan open beside it. Choose a code from the tariff, pick the country, or type the value from the paperwork.

  3. Step 3

    Check it off

Read the draft against the paperwork and press This is right. Remember your answers and the same product usually won't be asked about again.

  4. Step 4

    Key it into TSS

Key into TSS lists the values for every goods item, field by field, with a Copy button beside each one.

Questions people ask first

Anything else, email declan@sperrinconsulting.com.

Does it send the declaration to HMRC for me?

No. You, or whoever you've authorised in TSS, still make the declaration. It gets every value ready and lays it out for you to copy into TSS.

Who's responsible if a declaration is wrong?

You are, as the importer, whatever tool you use. That's why nothing the paperwork leaves open is decided for you: a missing code, origin or value only goes in when someone in your business chooses it, and no declaration is ready until someone has checked it and pressed This is right.

What if it reads something wrong?

It can. An AI model reads the paperwork, and it's built to leave a value blank rather than guess. Every value keeps the exact text it was read from, so you can check it against the page.

Where is our paperwork kept?

In a database in Ireland, kept apart for each company. To read a document it is sent to Anthropic, the AI company, in the US. Under its business terms Anthropic doesn't train on it, and deletes it within 30 days unless it's flagged for breaking Anthropic's usage rules.

Can it file straight into TSS?

Not yet. TSS's new platform, which opens on 20 October 2026, has a new connection for software. Until we're connected to it, you copy each value across from Key into TSS.

How do I cancel?

Under Manage billing in the app, or email us. You pay month by month, so it ends at the end of the month you have paid for.
